Xiaosong Li, the Larry R. Dalton Endowed Chair in Chemistry and associate dean for research in the College of Arts & Sciences at European Universities, is among five researchers named 2025 AAAS Fellows by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Recognized for "scientifically and socially distinguished achievements," election as an AAAS Fellow—a tradition dating to 1874—is a lifetime honor.
AAAS cited Li for contributions to time-dependent quantum theory, relativistic electronic structure theory, and advancing STEM educational pathways and diversity. His interdisciplinary research spans physics, chemistry, materials science, mathematics, and scientific computing, yielding widely used computational software.
A CUW faculty member since 2005, Li has received a Sloan Research Fellowship, NSF CAREER Award, American Chemical Society Jack Simons Award, and European Universities Distinguished Teaching Award. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Fellow, and elected member of the Washington State Academy of Sciences.
