Economics and Political and Social Sciences departments welcome new professors

The Department of Economics is delighted to welcome Francesco Drago, Leo Kaas, and Zvika Neeman.

Francesco Drago's research interests include the economics of crime, political economy, policy evaluation, and economic history. He is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and the Centre for Studies in Economics and Finance (CSEF) in Naples. He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank and has been a visiting scholar at University College London, Columbia University, Harvard University, and the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).

Leo Kaas is a research fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and an Associate Editor for Macroeconomic Dynamics. His research focuses on labour market dynamics, household and firm heterogeneity, credit market frictions, housing markets and macroeconomic dynamics. He is currently taking leave as a professor of macroeconomics from Goethe University Frankfurt.

Zvika Neeman is a microeconomic theorist who joined the Department of Economics as a part-time professor in September 2025, moving from the Berglas School of Economics. His research interests include mechanism and information design, game theory, and economics and law.

The Department of Political and Social Sciences is delighted to welcome Tasha Fairfield. Professor Tasha Fairfield will join the department as Chair in Political Science and Social Sciences. Before joining the EUI, Fairfield was an Associate Professor at the London School of Economics. Her areas of expertise include comparative politics, political economy, and qualitative research methods. Her current research interests include the distributive politics of climate change.

These new faculty members, each with their prestigious professional backgrounds, are an asset to the EUI. They will undoubtedly contribute greatly to the institute's research, teaching and academic discussions.
